  18. Description of Working Group:
  19.      The Character MIB working group is chartered to prepare a
  20.      recommendation to the IESG evaluating RFCs 1316-1318 (the Character
  21.      MIBs) with respect to the standards track.
  22.  
  23.      The recommendation will document implementation, interoperability,
  24.      and deployment experience.  If this experiences suggests that
  25.      changes should be made to the documents, new drafts may be
  26.      prepared.  The recommendation will report one of four outcomes for
  27.      each RFC:
  28.  
  29.     - that the RFC should be advanced from proposed to draft status,
  30.       without changes (if no problems are found);
  31.  
  32.     - that a draft prepared by the working group, should replace the
  33.       RFC, and be designated a draft standard (if only minor
  34.       changes are made);
  35.  
  36.     - that a draft prepared by the working group, should replace the
  37.       RFC, and be designated a proposed standard (if major
  38.       changes or feature enhancements are made); or,
  39.  
  40.     - that the RFC should be designated as historic (if this
  41.       technology is problematic).

  43.  Goals and Milestones: 
  44.  
  45.      Done Mailing list discussion of Charter and collection of concerns.       
  46.  
  47.      Done Discussion and final approval of Charter; discussion on models and 
  48.           terminology.  Make writing assignments.                              
  49.  
  50.      Done First draft document, discussion, additional drafts, special meeting?
  51.  
  52.      Done Review latest draft and if OK, give to IESG for publication as RFC.  
  53.  
  54.    Apr 93 Reactivation of Working Group to prepare the Character MIBs for Draft
  55.           Standard.                                                            
  56.  
  57.    Jun 93 Post an Internet Draft with the results of the survey of 
  58.           implementation and operational experiences with the Character MIBs. 
  59.           Post revised MIB documents if necessary.                             
  60.  
  61.    Aug 93 Submit the Character MIBs to the IESG for consideration as Draft 
  62.           Standards.
